At least 11 more children died and 1,315 others were infected with measles or developed measles symptoms across the country in the 24 hours until 8:00am on Friday.
The Directorate General of Health Services reported that, of them, two deaths and 85 infections were confirmed to be caused by measles.
With the latest figures, a total of 499 children have died and 68,869 others have been infected with measles or developed measles symptoms since the government began keeping records on March 15.
Of the total deaths so far, 85 were confirmed as measles deaths, while 8,329 infections were confirmed cases of measles.
The DGHS reported that the highest number of confirmed measles deaths, 50, in the Dhaka division, while 160 more children died there with measles symptoms.
In the Rajshahi division, two deaths were confirmed as measles cases while 79 others died with symptoms. In the Chattogram division, 10 deaths were confirmed as measles cases while 40 others died with measles symptoms.
In the Barishal division, 18 confirmed measles deaths and 30 symptomatic deaths were reported, while the Sylhet division recorded three confirmed deaths and 45 symptomatic deaths. In the Mymensingh division, two confirmed deaths and 34 symptomatic deaths were reported.
In the Khulna and Rangpur divisions, 21 symptomatic deaths and five symptomatic deaths were reported respectively.
In the past week, an average of 10 children died and more than 1,000 were infected daily, health service officials said.
Public health experts have repeatedly urged the government to declare measles a national public health emergency. However, the government has not made any official declaration, though it launched an immunisation campaign on April 5.
Initially, the government administered measles vaccines at 30 upazilas in 18 measles hotspot districts.
Later, the vaccination campaign was expanded nationwide for children aged between six months and 59 months.
The DGHS on Friday reported 102 per cent vaccination coverage in divisions and 106 per cent coverage in 12 city corporation areas.
The highest coverage, 113 per cent, was reported in the Gazipur City Corporation area, where the target was 1,78,423 children but 2,01,008 children were vaccinated.
