Filmmaker Khijir Hayat Khan has once again requested to be relieved from the Bangladesh Film Certification Board, citing ethical concerns and lack of prior consultation.
On Monday (January 19), Khan submitted a written application to the vice-chairman of the board, stating that he was reappointed as a member of the newly reconstituted board without his consent or any prior discussion. He expressed surprise at the decision taken by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
In his application, Khan clarified that the circumstances and structural framework under which he had previously resigned remain unchanged. “Accepting the same responsibility again under the same conditions is not consistent with my ethical position,” he wrote, adding that such acceptance would neither be personally appropriate nor respectful to the responsibilities of the state.

The government reconstituted the 15-member Bangladesh Film Certification Board on January 14 through a notification signed by Deputy Secretary Taslima Nur Hossain of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The board will be chaired by the Senior Secretary or Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, while the vice-chairman of the Film Certification Board will serve as member secretary.
