Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL), the authorised reseller of Starlink, has signed three separate agreements

Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL), the authorised reseller of Starlink, has signed three separate agreements to bring Starlink internet to primary and secondary schools in Khagrachhari, Bandarban, and Rangamati.

The goal is to support digital learning in the hill regions, where many students still struggle to access online education due to geography and poor connectivity, according to a statement.

Under the agreements with the three hill district council offices, schools in these districts will gradually receive Starlink terminals.

Once the connections are active, students will be able to join online classes, use digital content, and take part in virtual lessons through a stable high-speed link.

Officials said the initiative will help students in remote areas participate in mainstream education despite physical barriers.

The government has long expressed its commitment to improving education in the hill tracts and expanding the use of technology in classrooms.

The signing of these agreements marks a new step toward that effort, the statement added.

Following the signings, Starlink terminals have started reaching several schools in the districts, and installation work is underway.

BSCL Managing Director and CEO Muhammad Imadur Rahman, General Manager (Sales and Marketing) Shah Ahmedul Kabir, officials of the hill district councils, and engineers from the project were also present at the events.

"This agreement opens a new opportunity for education in the hill regions," Rahman said.

"With the help of technology, the government has taken another step toward improving the quality of learning and building a skilled generation."

The satellite internet provider received its operating licence on April 29 this year and was permitted to begin three months of test operations from May 8.

It officially announced its Bangladesh launch on May 20 through its X (formerly Twitter) account.

Initially, terminals will be distributed to 100 schools with a target of 450. The district council offices will bear the expenses of the service, according to BSCL.
