BEACON Bangladesh delivered medical equipment to the Pediatric Division of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) to support the treatment of children during the measles outbreak.
The delivery is part of the organisation's Emergency Healthcare Response initiative. The donation includes 16 sets of high-flow circuits and cannulas, and 10 sets of ambulatory and portable electric syringe pumps.
BEACON Bangladesh selected the items after field visits and discussions with hospital officials to find the areas of highest need.
Representatives handed over the medical supplies to Brigadier General Mohammed Taslim Uddin, Director of CMCH. Pediatric doctors, BEACON Bangladesh volunteers, and local social workers A. J. M. Giasuddin and Rebeka Nasreen attended the event.
"Public health emergencies demand collective action," Ashfaque Kabir, Founder of BEACON Bangladesh, said. He stated that the organisation aims to support healthcare institutions during crises.
The organisation thanked the Azimur Rokia Rahman Trust and the SSC-95 Batch of Government Laboratory High School for funding the initiative, while acknowledging the efforts of Dr Muhammad Jabed Bin Amin Chowdhury, Dr Balayat Hossain Dhali, Dr Humayun Alamgir, Dr Nusrat Jahan Neepa, and volunteer leader Md Abdullah Al Kaisar for coordinating the delivery.
