A total of 185 out of 203 polling centres in Khagrachari have been identified as risky ahead of the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election, district election officials said on Tuesday.

Of these, 63 polling centres have been classified as “highly risky,” said District Election Officer SM Shahadat Hossain.

He said the police Special Branch (DSB) has categorised polling centres into three groups — general, risky and high-risk — based on security assessments.

According to the Khagrachari District Election Office, the district has 554,114 registered voters, including 280,206 men, 273,904 women and four third-gender voters.

Meanwhile, Khagrachari Superintendent of Police Sayem Mirza Sayem Mahmud said polling centres located in geographically sensitive areas, as well as centres where candidates will cast their votes, have been considered risky.
