Director Rubaiyat Hossain has been developing her film "The Difficult Bride" for many years. She travelled to various international film festivals with the screenplay and secured global funding. Now, the cast has finally been announced.

National Film Award–winning actresses Azmeri Haque Badhan, Reekita Nondine Shimu and Sunerah Binte Kamal will lead the cast. They are joined by Zaineen Karim Chowdhury, a Smith College graduate making her lead acting debut after previously working as an assistant director. The director shared the announcement with Variety.

"The Difficult Bride" follows a young woman who dreams of a fairytale wedding while secretly battling a complicated illness. As home remedies fail and her stress mounts, she begins to imagine a mysterious long-haired woman during a visit to a beauty parlour.

Speaking about the performances, Rubaiyat Hossain said, "Every actor has given their all. I am grateful for their trust, their generosity, their flawless artistry, and their unwavering dedication." She added that she has carried this story for 21 years, first considering it as a short film in 2006 before deciding to develop it into a feature-length project. "Finally, with an incredible team, I've been able to make this film. It feels like a miracle," she said.

Portuguese filmmaker Leonor Teles served as cinematographer, with several international crew members joining other departments. The project will be showcased in the Work-in-Progress section of the Les Arcs Film Festival, beginning December 13 in France. Post-production is underway, and "The Difficult Bride" is expected to be completed by March 2026 before heading to international film festivals.
