The Abinta Kabir Foundation organised a three-day group exhibition featuring child artists titled ‘The Little Artist 7’ that began on Thursday at Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts at Uttar Badda in the capital.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Rafiqun Nabi, while Nilu Rawshan Morshed, Chairperson of the Abinta Kabir Foundation, spoke at the event.

The seventh edition displays 200 artworks from 65 schools across three divisions—Dhaka, Chittagong, and Sylhet.

Under the theme of festivals and the colours of Bangladesh, children explored culture, religion, festivals, nature, and the country’s history through paintings, mostly in watercolour and pastel on paper.

The artworks depict religious and seasonal festivals—including Pohela Boishakh, Nabanna Utshab, Pitha Utshab, Eid, and Puja—along with the country’s natural beauty and its people.

The artworks will be sold to raise funds for children.

Rafiqun Nabi said that children draw with joy, so their pictures feel fresh and unique.

‘Children will be out in the field playing, singing, and drawing, so parents need to be aware of that,’ he said, adding that he hopes some of these young participants will grow into renowned artists.

Nilu Rawshan Morshed said that the organisation regularly holds exhibitions to encourage viewing and promote the work of young artists.

Fifty per cent of the participating schools were English-medium, while the rest were Bengali-medium from across the country, creating a platform for children to share their thoughts, she added.

The exhibition will end on Saturday.
