To commemorate PMOS Awareness Month 2026 (September), the PMOS Taskforce of Bangladesh Endocrine Society (BES), in collaboration with BD Physicians, organised a day-long scientific workshop at Holiday Inn, Dhaka. The theme of the workshop was “PMOS: A Comprehensive Approach to a Complex Endocrine, Metabolic, and Reproductive Disorder.”
PMOS is a complex hormonal disorder that can have multifaceted impacts on women’s endocrine, metabolic, and reproductive health. To promote early detection, appropriate management, and enhance physicians’ knowledge and skills in contemporary approaches to PMOS, the workshop brought together endocrinologists, gynaecologists, reproductive health specialists, and physicians from different parts of the country.
The day-long scientific program featured five specialised scientific sessions, expert panel discussions, and scientific presentations covering various important aspects of PMOS. To encourage active participation and knowledge assessment among physicians, the program also included an interactive quiz followed by certificate distribution.
The scientific sessions were led by distinguished experts, including Dr Faria Afsana, President, Bangladesh Endocrine Society (BES); Dr Shahjada Selim, President-Elect, BES; Dr M Saifuddin, General Secretary, BES; Dr. MarufaMustari, Coordinator, PMOS Taskforce, BES; Dr Mirza Sharifuzzaman, Treasurer, BES, along with other renowned specialists and leaders of the society.
The workshop was moderated by Dr Azimun Nessa & Dr Ahmed Ifrad Bin Raunak.
The program continued from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, covering evidence-based discussions on PMOS, including its epidemiology and endocrine basics, diagnostic criteria and clinical judgment, metabolic risk assessment and stratification, and comprehensive management with a focus on fertility.
The workshop concluded with certificate distribution and closing remarks by Prof. Muhammad Hafizur Rahman, Senior Consultant, Endocrinology, Continental Hospital & Immediate Past President, BES, marking the successful completion of the day-long scientific initiative.
