Filmmaker Farhan Akhtar’s production banner Excel Entertainment has reportedly demanded ₹40 crore in compensation from actor Ranveer Singh following his alleged exit from the upcoming film “Don 3”. The development comes amid claims that the actor’s withdrawal has caused major financial and logistical setbacks for the project.

According to reports, the production house has cited losses linked to sunk development costs, along with delays arising from scheduling disruptions, planning changes and other prior commitments made for the film. A letter accessed by Variety India reportedly states that the situation forced the makers to let go of several departments, with heads of departments (HODs) being asked to seek work outside the project.

Ranveer Singh was officially announced as the new face of the “Don” franchise in 2023, stepping into a role previously played by Shah Rukh Khan. However, reports in December suggested that the actor had opted out of the film, triggering uncertainty around the project’s future.

Neither Ranveer Singh nor Excel Entertainment has issued an official statement addressing the reported compensation demand so far. Further clarity is awaited as discussions between the actor and the production house continue.
