An attempt is being made to gain political advantage by evading political responsibility and creating pressure on the court, Mia Golam Porwar, secretary general of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has said.

He made the comment in a statement issued on Tuesday in response to the High Court issuing a rule over matters related to the implementation of the July Charter.

Golam Porwar said political issues should not be dragged to the court. In the past, attempts to resolve political matters through judicial means did not yield positive outcomes; rather, they created confusion and stalemate in national life.

He said that filing writ petitions in a planned, hidden way would be dishonest and ultimately self-defeating.

The Jamaat leader said the old practice of using courts to secure political gains must end. He warned that if the government backs away from the July Charter, it would betray public expectations and weaken national unity.

He urged the government to refrain from such steps and stressed resolving political problems through dialogue and consensus.
