Two people, who were arrested on charges of gang-raping a woman in a moving bus on the Dhaka-Tangail highway, gave a confessional statement before the Tangail court on Friday.
They are bus driver Md Altaf, 25, and his assistant Md Rabbi, 21.
Tangail Senior Judicial Magistrate Rumelia Sirajom recorded their confessional statements, Court Inspector Md. Sajjad Hossain told the Daily Star.
After that, they were sent to jail, added the inspector.
Ruhul Amin, officer-in-charge of Tangail Police Station, said the woman boarded a Savar Paribahan bus from Radio Colony in Dhaka to Ashulia around 11:30pm on Wednesday. After other passengers got off, leaving the woman alone in the bus, its driver moved around to different places, and the woman was raped.
The highway police stopped the bus when it was parked suspiciously in the Kortia underpass area on the Dhaka-Tangail highway.
On Thursday afternoon, Tangail Sadar Police rescued the victim and arrested three men, including Altaf and Rabbi.
The victim filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at Tangail Sadar Police Station on Thursday night. She was sent to Tangail General Hospital for a medical test on Thursday evening.
