Shakib Khan’s Eid release “Prince: Once Upon a Time in Dhaka” has started screening at Star Cineplex after overcoming technical issues that kept it off the schedule on Eid day.
The film did not have a single show at any Star Cineplex outlet on Eid day. The situation changed yesterday (Sunday) night, when the film was screened from 8:10 pm at the Bashundhara City Shopping Complex branch, marking its return to the country’s leading multiplex chain.
The absence of “Prince” from Cineplex screens sparked speculation. Reports suggested that the film could not be exhibited due to failure to submit the Digital Cinema Package (DCP). However, the production company, Creative Land Films, said the DCP had been delivered but failed to match the Cineplex server, preventing the screening.
The producers confirmed that the issue has now been resolved. They said the film will run in all branches of Star Cineplex from today (Monday).
The unexpected delay drew strong reactions from audiences, many of whom expressed frustration over missing shows on Eid day. According to the filmmakers, the complication arose from technical errors linked to post-production work. Producer Shirin Sultana said the disruption also caused financial losses.
The producers now claim that all technical issues have been fixed and the film is running nationwide.
Directed by Abu Hayat Mahmud, “Prince” is set in 1990s Dhaka and features Shakib Khan in a gangster role. The film also stars Tasnia Farin and Jyotirmoyee Kundu, alongside a supporting cast including Dibyendu Bhattacharya and Intekhab Dinar.
