A man was strangled to death allegedly by his wife at village Jorshing in Koyra upazila of Khulna on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Fazlu Gazi, 66, son of the late Fakir Gazi of the village.

According to locals, an altercation broke out between Fazlu Gazi and his second wife Khukumoni in the evening.

At one stage, she strangled him and fled the scene.

Locals later brought a village doctor, who declared him dead.

Sources said Fazlu Gazi married Khukumoni, a divorcee from neighbouring village Angtihara, after the death of his first wife.

Officer-in-charge (investigation) of Koyra Police Station Md Shah Alam said they received information about the incident but have yet to reach the spot.

‘We are collecting information from various sources and trying to arrest the accused,’ he said.
