Voting for the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026 phase 2 will take place today, covering a large number of constituencies across the state, reports India Today.
Polling will be held from 7:00am to 6:00pm at designated polling stations. This phase includes 142 constituencies, making it a key stage in the election process.
With West Bengal election phase 2 drawing attention, authorities have issued clear guidelines for voters to ensure smooth polling.
The counting of votes for all phases will be conducted on May 4, when the final results of the West Bengal elections 2026 will be announced.
Before the second phase of voting in West Bengal, the Election Commission of India has once again published an additional voter list following the directive of the Supreme Court.
After resolving applications submitted to the tribunal, 1,468 new voters have been included in the updated list, while six names have been removed, reports News On Air.
The Commission has stated that the names newly added to this supplementary list will be able to exercise their voting rights.
Earlier, before the first phase of voting, an additional voter list was also published in compliance with the court’s order, which had included the names of 139 voters for the first phase.
As per Election Commission rules, exit poll projections will be released after 6:30pm on April 29, reports The Times of India.
Most of these seats are in areas considered strongholds of chief minister Mamata Banerjee, but the BJP, currently the main opposition, is making a strong push to break into these regions.
Phase 2 will cover the remaining constituencies of the 294-seat assembly, making it a crucial round.
One of the most important seats in this phase is Bhabanipur, Mamata Banerjee’s bastion, where she is facing a challenge from strong BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari.
In Phase 1, voting took place in 152 constituencies on April 23, with very high participation across regions.
This has increased excitement and curiosity about the final results.
Some of the key leaders in the fray include Mamata Banerjee, Chandrima Bhattacharya, Shashi Panja and Aroop Biswas from the TMC, while the BJP has fielded leaders like Suvendu Adhikari, Swapan Dasgupta and Rupa Ganguly.
