The emphatic win also lifted Bangladesh from eighth to sixth in the current ICC World Test Championship standings. Here are some key highlights from the match:

** Bangladesh secured a 104-run victory over Pakistan in the first Test in Mirpur yesterday, marking the Tigers’ first win in the current World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. With one win, one defeat, and a draw, Bangladesh climbed to sixth in the WTC points table, overtaking Pakistan (7th) and England (8th).

** This was Bangladesh’s third consecutive Test victory against Pakistan, following their historic 2-0 series win in Rawalpindi in 2024 – the Tigers’ first-ever Test series victory on Pakistani soil. Previously, Pakistan had won 12 of the first 13 Tests between the two sides, with one match ending in a draw.

** The Mirpur Test also marked Bangladesh’s maiden Test win at home against Pakistan. Before this match, the Tigers had lost seven of their eight home Tests against Pakistan, with the only draw coming in Khulna in 2015.
