Different cultural organisations celebrated the 55th Victory Day through staging different programmes on Tuesday.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Liberation War Museum, Chhayanaut along with BRAC University, Ganatantrik Sanskritik Oikya, Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi and others paid tribute to the freedom fighters and martyrs of the War of Independence organising cultural events at different venues.


Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy hosts Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra’s songs at its 64 branches with a central concert at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Repertory Jatradal also staged their new production titled General Osmani at its experimental theatre hall directed by Tanvir Nahid Khan.

Ganatantrik Sanskritik Oikya brought out a mass parade from the National Press Club to Shikha Chirantan at Suhrawardy Udyan protesting at the interim government’s decision to cancel the Victory Day parade to celebrate the day.

Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi with Bangladesh Students Union and Bangladesh Juba Union organised a flag procession from the Institution of Engineers to the Central Shaheed Minar.  

Chhayanaut organised Bijoy Utsab on Abahani playground at Dhanmondi while the Liberation War Museum organised a cultural event for children at their venue.

Chhayanaut along with BRAC University Cultural Club organised Bijoy Utsab on BRAC University campus.

Dhaka University Photographic Society organised a photography exhibition depicting War of Independence and refugee camps of India in 1971.
