Rishad Hossain found himself at the heart of a tense finish as Hobart Hurricanes edged Melbourne Stars by three runs via the DLS method in a rain-hit Big Bash League Knockout at Bellerive Oval on Wednesday.
With the match reduced to 10 overs a side, Hobart posted 114 for five, powered by Beau Webster’s 47. When further rain revised Melbourne’s target to 85 from seven overs, the chase intensified, and Rishad was thrown into the pressure cooker.
The Bangladeshi leg-spinner bowled two crucial overs, conceding 24 runs, including two sixes, as Melbourne went hard in the middle phase. Rishad has 13 wickets in 11 matches to his credit this season.
Hobart will next face Sydney Sixers in the Challenger fixture -- a virtual semifinal -- on January 23.
