A 25-year-old man was killed and another injured when a cylinder of a refrigerated truck exploded in Gabtoli’s Dipnagar in Dhaka last night.
The deceased was identified as Imran Hossain, from Lohagara upazila of Narail. The injured was truck driver Md Faruk Hossain, 40, said police.
The incident occurred around 8:00pm beside the Dipnagar fish market, according to relatives.
Delwar Hossain, a cousin of Imran, said they worked at a refrigerator shop in the area.
He said they were repairing a refrigerated fish truck and refilling its gas cylinder in front of the shop when the cylinder exploded, injuring Imran and Faruk.
They were initially taken to a local hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared Imran dead around 11:00pm.
Faruk is undergoing treatment at the hospital’s emergency department.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s police outpost, said Imran’s body was kept at the DMC morgue for autopsy.
