Legendary Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar arrived in Dhaka on Sunday to begin his role as mentor of Dhaka Capitals ahead of the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season.

Widely known as the Rawalpindi Express, Akhtar was warmly welcomed upon his arrival by the franchise's owner organisation, Remark HB. His inclusion marks a significant step for Dhaka Capitals as the team gears up for the new campaign.

The franchise is aiming to build a competitive and disciplined unit for the season, with Akhtar's presence expected to add value to the preparations. Drawing on his vast international experience, winning mindset, and leadership, Akhtar is set to guide the side both on and off the field.

Dhaka Capitals and Remark HB expressed optimism as they look forward to an exciting season under Akhtar's mentorship.

The 12th edition of BPL will begin on December 26, with Dhaka Capitals facing Rajshahi Warriors the next day at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
