Police have arrested the superintendent of a Dakhil Madrasa in Bhurungamari upazila of Kurigram on charges of recruiting a teacher using forged academic certificates.

Detectives (DB) picked up Saidur Rahman, superintendent of Kamat Angaria Dakhil Madrasa, on Thursday afternoon following an arrest warrant issued by a court.

The arrest was confirmed on Thursday night by Bhurungamari Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Muntasir Mamun Mun.

According to police and court documents, one Rafiqul Islam filed a public interest case with a Kurigram court, alleging that Saidur had recruited a teacher in exchange for a large bribe by accepting forged certificates. The court directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the matter.

After completing its investigation, the CID submitted a report to the court. Based on the findings, the court issued a summons directing Saidur to appear in person. When he failed to comply, the court issued an arrest warrant. Acting on the warrant, the District Detective Branch (DB) arrested him on Thursday.

ASP Muntasir said, “Further legal proceedings in the case will continue in accordance with the court’s directives.”
