A group print exhibition titled ‘A Turning Moment’, which explores artwork beyond colonial narratives, is currently under way.
Organised by Shunno Art Space, the exhibition features 20 contemporary artists at the SHALA Neighbourhood Art Space, located at Aloki in Tejgaon, Dhaka.
The eight-day exhibition displays 36 prints created during an extensive workshop conducted by artist Mustafa Zaman.
Exploring the theme of decolonising art in a post-colonial era, the workshop highlighted the region’s rich history of anti-colonial art practices, championed by legendary artists such as SM Sultan and Quamrul Hassan.
Complementing this theme, the exhibition showcases selected prints that beautifully cultivate clarity of thought and form through the medium of printmaking.
Participating artists—including A Asan, Amal Akash, Anukul Chandra Mojumder, Jayatu Chakma, Khandkar Nasir Ahammed, Mubtasim Alvee, and Rajib Datta—displayed their artworks at the exhibition, which was inaugurated on Friday.
The exhibition concludes on June 12.
