The Election Commission (EC) today published the boundaries of 11 parliamentary constituencies, including Thakurgaon-1, with new upazila and union parishads.
The EC published a gazette in this regard today, signed by Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.
The seats are: Thakurgaon-1, Bogura-2, Pirojpur-1, Mymensingh-10, Brahmanbaria-3 and 4, Cumilla-3, Lakshmipur-2 and 3, Chattogram-2, and Cox's Bazar-1.
According to the gazette, Thakurgaon‑1 constituency has been redefined to include Ruhia and Bhulli upazilas, which were carved out of Thakurgaon Sadar upazila.
In Bogura‑2, Mokamtala upazila has been added alongside Shibganj.
For Pirojpur‑1, the constituency now comprises Pirojpur Sadar, Nazirpur, and Zianagar upazilas.
In Mymensingh‑10, the newly formed Dakshin Gafargaon upazila has been included with Gafargaon.
In Brahmanbaria‑3, Barishal union parishad under Akhaura upazila has been added.
Brahmanbaria‑4 constituency has been formed after excluding the Barishal union.
The new Barishal union was approved in May after six villages were separated from Basudeb union under Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila and attached to Akhaura.
In Cumilla‑3, Bangara upazila has been added to Muradnagar.
In Chattogram‑2, Fatikchhari Uttar upazila has been newly formed and included with Fatikchhari.
Meanwhile, Cox’s Bazar‑1 constituency now incorporates the newly created Matarmuhuri upazila.
