Police have recovered the body of a 27-year-old woman from a rented house in the Kalachandpur area of Gulshan in Dhaka, with her throat slit.

The deceased was identified as Sadia Akhter Mimi. Her body was recovered from a house in Kalachandpur Paschim Para on Saturday night.

Confirming the incident, Gulshan Police Station Sub-Inspector Mofizul Islam said police reached the spot around 1am after receiving information and recovered the body. It was later sent to the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.

He said the deceased had clear marks of a sharp weapon on her neck, along with injury marks on different parts of her body.

Police said two women lived in the rented house. Preliminary information suggests Sadia Akhter Mimi worked at a beauty parlour.

The motive behind the killing and the identity of those responsible could not be determined immediately. Police said an investigation is under way.
