Facing widespread criticism, Bangladesh Betar withdrew its dress code directive for live Facebook bulletins on Sunday.

The state-owned radio broadcaster’s instruction, issued on May 4, had stipulated that female anchors must avoid wearing single-sided scarves and oversized decorative dots on their foreheads, while banning male anchors from wearing T-shirts during broadcasts.

The directive drew heavy criticism, particularly on social media, after the instructions were reported in the media.

In an office order issued on Sunday, the directive was withdrawn following instructions from Bangladesh Betar director general ASM Zahid.
