At least three incidents of rape had come to light since Wednesday following filing of police cases in Kushtia, Gazipur and Noakhali with victims aged six, eight and 12.

The rapes occurred on April 1, March 23, 25 and February 15.

A man was arrested in a case filed over raping an eight-year-old child in Khoksha upazila of Kushtia, said Sheikh Moinul Islam, officer-in-charge of Khoksha police station.

The accused Afzal Ali, 55, was arrested at Khoksa Railway Station at about 1:00am while attempting to flee, he said.

The victim’s mother filed the case with the police station on Wednesday night, added the police official.

According to victim’s family, Afzal raped the child on April 1.

New Age correspondent in Gazipur reported that a court in the district on Wednesday sent a person named Ohidul to jail in a case filed over raping his 12-year-old step-daughter on February 15.

Gazipur Sadar police officer-in-charge Mehedi Hasan said that victim’s mother delayed filing the case as the accused threatened to kill both of them.

Later, victim’s mother filed the case on April 1 against Ohidul accusing him of raping the 12-year-old girl.

According to the case statement, Ohidul gave the victim a dinner spiked sleeping pills on the night of February 14 and later raped the child.

Meanwhile, New Age correspondent in Noakhali reported that a 16-year-old boy was arrested in a case filed over raping two six-year-old twin sisters in Kabirhat upazila of Noakhali on March 23 and March 25.

Mother of the victims, filed the case on Wednesday, said Shahin Mia, officer-in-charge of Kabirhat police station.

He said that the medical examination of the two victims was completed at Noakhali General Hospital on Thursday.

According to the police, police arrested the accused on March 30 upon receiving an initial complaint under Section 54.

He was shown arrested in the case filed on Wednesday.
