Four people were killed in Dhaka's Nadda on Wednesday after a bus lost control and crashed into another.

The collision occurred around 6:05am near Aziz Road, adjacent to the Nadda bus stand on Pragati Sarani, Bhatara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mazharul Islam told The Daily Star.

The deceased were identified as Laizu Begum, 38; her husband Kabir Jamaddar, 47; their relative Khushi Begum, 35; and Md Rabiul, 22.

According to police, a Kuril Bishwa Road-bound Islam Paribahan bus from Barishal lost control, ran into the divider, and hit an Akash Paribahan bus heading towards Sadarghat.

Police said Laizu, a passenger of the Akash Paribahan bus, died on the spot.

The injured were taken to Kurmitola General Hospital, where doctors declared Khushi and Rabiul dead. Kabir, who was critically injured, was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:00am.

All four victims were passengers of the Akash Paribahan bus.

Police confirmed that the Islam Paribahan bus had only five passengers, none of whom were injured.

Bhatara Police Station OC Mazharul Islam confirmed the deaths while speaking to The Daily Star. He said that no cases had been filed.
