A fire that broke out at a jhut warehouse in the Deuliabari area of Konabari in Gazipur city early today was brought under control after four and a half hours.

Local residents spotted the fire around 5:30am and informed the fire service. Five firefighting units -- three from Konabari Fire Service and two from Sarabo Fire Service -- rushed to the scene and began firefighting.

The blaze was brought under control around 10:00am, but it had not been completely extinguished, fire service officials said.

Saiful Islam, in-charge of Konabari Fire Service, was supervising the firefighting operation.

As the fire was yet to be fully extinguished, the cause of the blaze and the extent of the damage could not be determined immediately.
