The investment will boost jobs, export, and AI innovation, says the company
Amazon has announced plans to invest over $35 billion in India by 2030, focusing on artificial intelligence, job creation, and export growth. As per an official announcement by the company, the commitment builds on approximately $40 billion Amazon has already invested in the country.
The announcement was made at the Amazon Smbhav Summit in New Delhi. According to an economic report presented there, Amazon's previous investments have digitised over 12 million small businesses, enabled $20 billion in e-commerce exports, and supported about 2.8 million jobs in India during 2024.
The company stated its new investment will aim to bring AI benefits to 15 million small businesses and increase cumulative e-commerce exports from India to $80 billion by 2030. Amazon also plans to use AI to enhance shopping experiences with tools for visual discovery and multilingual support.
Furthermore, an education initiative by Amazon aims to provide AI education and career programs to 4 million government school students. The company projects its operations will support 3.8 million direct, indirect, induced, and seasonal jobs in India by 2030.
