Marking the beginning of the month of victory, Band Fest 2025 was held at the Channel i studio on December 1 (yesterday). The 12th edition of the festival, organised in memory of iconic rock legend Ayub Bachchu, showcased performances by 12 leading bands.
This year's line-up featured Uccharon, Parthibo, Starling, Shironamhin, Mechanix, Nirjhar, Mehrin, Torun, Symphony, Nova, Obscure, and Feedback. The programme was broadcast live on Channel i until 4 pm. With support from Impress Telefilm Ltd, Azam Khan's legendary band Uccharon has returned to the spotlight with renewed vigour.
Widely revered as the Pop Guru, Azam Khan played a pivotal role in elevating Bangladeshi band music to new heights. A celebrated cultural figure, he passed away on June 5, 2011. As a freedom fighter, he fought as a guerrilla during the Liberation War of 1971. Following independence, he formed his band with close friends and named it Uccharon.
The current Uccharon line-up comprises Dulal Joha (vocal & rhythm guitar), Peyaru Khan (vocal & percussion), Sekandar Ahmed Khoka (bass), Partha Majumder (lead guitar), Prem (keyboard), and Bappy (drums). According to band representatives, Uccharon is preparing for several local and international concerts next year. The band will also participate in a number of live musical television programmes beginning this month.
Ayub Bachchu, the visionary behind Band Fest, remains central to the festival's legacy. To commemorate 12 years of the event, a cake-cutting ceremony was held.
