State minister for public administration Md Abdul Bari said that recruitment would be completed in 3,110 vacant posts within the next five years as part of a phased government plan.

He said that short-, medium- and long-term action plans, spanning six months, one year and five years, had already been formulated to fill up vacancies across the public administration.


Under these plans, recruitment processes would be completed for 2,879 posts within six months, 4,459 posts within one year, and 3,110 posts within five years.

The minister disclosed the information on Thursday while responding to a starred question tabled by ruling party lawmaker Sarwar Jamal Nizam in the Jatiya Sangsad.

The session of JS was presided over by the deputy speaker Kayser Kamal.

The state minister said that, in line with the action plan’s commitment to ensuring transparent and swift recruitment of five lakh government employees, the public administration ministry has issued letters to other ministries and divisions requesting updated information on their latest recruitment status and existing vacancies.

According to the state minister, based on updated manpower data of government employees as of December 31, 2023, the total number of vacant posts across all ministries and government offices stood at 468,220, as reported in the Statistics of Public Servants 2024.

Of these, 68,884 vacancies fall within grades 1 to 9, 129,166 in grades 10 to 12, 146,799 in grades 13 to 16, and 115,235 in grades 17 to 20.

Additionally, there are 8,136 vacant positions under honorary, fixed-pay, and contractual categories spanning various grades.
