A woman died after a brick fell on her head from an under-construction building during Friday evening’s rain in Dhaka’s Madhubagh area.

The victim was identified as Rasheda Begum, 35, who worked in houses in the area.

The incident occurred around 8:00pm in Madhubag Lane 3. She was rescued in critical condition and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the doctor declared her dead around 10:00pm.

The deceased was from Durgapur village in Gaibandha Sadar upazila. Her husband, Saiful Islam, is a van driver. She was a mother of five children and lived in Madhubag Lane 3.

Her brother-in-law, Sakhawat Hossain, who brought her to the hospital, said Rasheda was returning home when the hailstorm and rain started.

While passing by an under-construction building in the area near her house, bricks from the building's wall collapsed and fell on her head. She immediately fell to the ground.

Locals took her to Kurmitola General Hospital. Seeing her condition deteriorating, she was then taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where the doctor declared her dead.
