Former director general of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) Lt Col Abdul Latif Khan (Retd.) passed away on Wednesday at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka. He was 79.
A widely respected sports personality and administrator, Lt Col Latif served as the first director general of BKSP from 1987 to 1991. At the time of his passing, he was also serving as the acting president of the Bangladesh Boxing Federation.
Lt Col Latif had a long and distinguished association with Bangladesh cricket. He served the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as chairman of its Game Development Committee and was also a former manager of the Bangladesh national cricket team. In 2007, he was a valued member of the board’s Interim Committee.
The Namaz-e-Janaza of Lt Col Latif will be held on Friday after Jummah at the Baridhara DOHS Jam-e-Masjid. He will be laid to rest at the Military Graveyard.
The Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expressed deep condolences at the passing of Lt Col Latif and extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family during this time of sorrow.
