From Wednesday, Bangladeshis approved for US business or tourist visas must post a bond of up to $15,000, while students on F and M visas will not be affected
The US Embassy in Dhaka shared this information in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement said that the visa bond does not apply to students studying in the United States on F or M visas. Only business or tourist (B1/B2) visa applicants will be required to pay a bond, where applicable.

Earlier, on Monday, the US Embassy in Dhaka stated that starting from Wednesday, Bangladeshi citizens who are approved for US business or tourist (B1/B2) visas will be required to post a visa bond of up to $15,000. This requirement does not apply to holders of valid B1/B2 visas issued before January 21, 2026.
The statement further noted that applicants should not pay any bond before the interview. Paying a bond in advance does not guarantee visa issuance, and third-party websites may be fraudulent. Any payment made before the interview is non-refundable. The bond amount will be refunded if the visa terms and conditions are properly followed.
