A seven-year-old child, with her throat slit, was rescued at the Sitakunda Eco Park in the Chattogram’s Sitakunda upazila yesterday afternoon.
According to police, the girl was found walking aimlessly in the park, covered in blood. Local workers rescued her and rushed her to the upazila health complex. Later, she was later moved to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Contacted by The Daily Star early today, Mohinul Islam, “The girl lives with her parents in the Kumira area of Sitakunda, and she went to the eco park for a trip. It is not clear who took her to the park.
“She was found with her throat slit, but she is still alive. She was unable to speak, but police collected her details. We are not sure whether she was raped, without conducting a medical examination, but she was definitely tortured.”
Police said they are trying to identify the criminals behind the incident.
