A fire broke out at an 11-storey building in Banani, Dhaka, on Wednesday evening and was brought under control at around  8:15pm.

The fire originated at about 6:30pm and seven units of firefighters worked to douse the fire, said Shahjahan Hossain, duty officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Control room.


He, however, could not inform whether the building was residential or it was used for business purposes.

The fire originated on the top floor of the building near the Banani Kacha Bazar area, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence media wing.

No casualties were reported in the incident so far, Shahjahan said, adding that the cause of the fire could not be known immediately.
