The parliamentary special committee to recommend ways to resolve the current fuel situation will need to submit their report within 30 days.
Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni placed the names of the special committee members at the house today. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman announced forming of the committee on Thursday.
Opposition Leader Shafiqur Rahman had earlier called for a “common committee” of government and opposition MPs to tackle the crisis. On Wednesday, parliament held a discussion on the issue as an urgent public matter.
Of the 10 members, five are from ruling party. They are: Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood Tuku, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit, Lakshmipur-4 MP ABM Ashraf Uddin, Manikganj-2 MP Moinul Islam Khan, and Shariatpur-3 MP Miah Nuruddin Ahmad Apu.
Five others are: Dhaka-12 Jamaat MP Saiful Alam, Dhaka-16 Jamaat MP Abdul Baten, Chapainawabganj-3 Jamaat MP Nurul Islam, Cumilla-4 NCP MP Hasnat Abdullah and Sylhet-5 Khelafat Majlis MP Mohammed Abul Hasan.
