Leaders of Ganatantrik Jukta Front on Monday at a protest rally in Dhaka demanded immediate resignation of foreign minister Khalilur Rahman for signing unequal trade deals with the United States government.

They organised the protest rally in front of the National Press Club, which was chaired by Bazlur Rashid Firoz, general secretary of the Socialist Party of Bangladesh.

Bazlur Rashid Firoz called on the Bangladesh Nationalist Party government to scrap the unequal business deals made with the US government during the rule of the interim government, when Khalilur Rahman served as the national security adviser.

He called on the BNP government to take immediate steps to remove Khalilur Rahman, whom they appointed as foreign minister, due to business deals that are contrary to the national interests of Bangladesh.

Abdullah Kafee Ratan, general secretary of Communist Party of Bangladesh, said that they would wage tougher movements if the BNP government did not scrap the unequal business deals with the US government.

Mushtuq Husain, standing committee member of Bangladesh Jasod, said that foreign minister Khalilur Rahman had served the purposes of the US government ignoring national interests of Bangladesh.

Mushrefa Mishu, the general secretary of the Democratic Revolutionary Party, also demanded resignation of Khalilur Rahman.

Revolutionary Communist League central leader Nazrul Islam, SPB (Marxist) central leader Rashed Shahrier and others spoke at the rally.

The rally was followed by a protest procession that paraded several city roads.
