No case was filed until Tuesday night over the attack on a Rapid Action Battalion team in Jungle Salimpur in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram that left one RAB member dead and three others injured.

Sitakunda police officer-in-charge Md Mohinul Islam told New Age on Tuesday night that a case was in process in connection with the incident and that no arrest was made so far.


He said that police drives were on to arrest those involved and that adequate law-enforcement personnel were deployed at the scene.

RAB-7 Nayek Subedar  Md Motaleb Hossain Bhuiyan was shot dead and three other members were injured on January 19 when an operational team came under gun attack during a drive in Jangal Salimpur area.

Soon after the incident, a joint force took position at all the entry points to Jangal Salimpur, said the police.

Chattogram district police additional superintendent Md Rasel said that a joint operation involving the army and other forces was being planned quickly to arrest those involved.

He said that information was being collected from various sources to identify the suspects and that CCTV footage, videos and mobile phone data were being reviewed.

Meanwhile, funeral prayers for Motaleb Hossain were held at about 2:30pm on Tuesday at the RAB-7 headquarters at Patenga of Chattogram.
