Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) will recruit women drivers on a temporary basis for its recently launched women-only “Pink Bus” service.

The state-run transport corporation issued a recruitment notice this afternoon, inviting women to take part in walk-in preliminary driving tests at its Central Training Institute in Joydebpur, Gazipur.

The preliminary driving tests will be held from 9:00am to 2:00pm on August 30 and 31 and September 1.

Applicants must be citizens of Bangladesh and aged between 21 and 35. They must be at least five feet tall and have a national identity card and citizenship certificate or birth registration certificate.

Candidates must also have a heavy vehicle driving licence or fulfil all requirements for converting their existing driving licence into a heavy vehicle licence.

Applicants have been asked to appear in person at the BRTC Central Training Institute with the original copies of their NID or birth registration certificate, all educational certificates and driving licence.

No travel or daily allowance will be provided for taking part in the selection process.

Women selected at the preliminary stage will receive free heavy vehicle driving training for a period ranging from seven days to two months.

BRTC will bear their accommodation and food costs during the training period.

After completing the training, candidates who pass a road performance test will be appointed as drivers on a daily wage basis under the corporation’s existing administrative and financial rules.

However, they will not receive any financial benefits before their final appointment.

Those recruited may also receive preference in future recruitment for permanent driver posts at BRTC, provided they meet the required conditions.
