A man and woman were killed after a truck collided head on with their motorcycle in Sahapur village of Pabna's Ishwardi upazila.

The victims are Anwar and Sapna, of Sahapur village, said police.

The incident happened around 8:00pm at the Alhaj Mor area in Ishwardi upazila.

According to Md Ashadur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Ishwardi Police Station, said a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction lost control and ran over the motorcycle.

The couple was returning home on a motorcycle after shopping for their son Shakil Ahmed Siam’s wedding which was scheduled to be held Thursday.

Sapna died at the scene, while Anwar was rushed to the Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex by police and firefighters but died of injuries around 8:30pm.

Police seized the truck, but the driver managed to flee, the OC said, adding that the bodies were handed over to the family without autopsy.

The couple’s son Siam was scheduled to hold his Gaye Holud ceremony on Thursday and his wedding on Friday.
