EA Motive have acknowledged leaked footage from the long-awaited Marvel’s Iron Man game, confirming the authenticity of an unfinished video that has offered players an unexpected early look at the superhero title.
The approximately two-and-a-half-minute video circulated online on August 28 and appears to be an internal work-in-progress trailer rather than material prepared for a public marketing campaign. The footage reportedly carries an 'AUG26 TEST' watermark and contains unfinished elements.
After the video spread online, the official Marvel’s Iron Man account responded publicly, saying the appearance of the material had not gone as planned and adding that the developers had considerably more to show when they were ready. The acknowledgement effectively confirmed that the leaked footage came from the project.
The footage appears to show Tony Stark moving rapidly between flight and combat, using abilities associated with Iron Man, including repulsor weapons, missiles, and close-range attacks. It also suggests that players may be able to customise elements of Stark’s armour through an inventory-like system.
Several familiar Marvel characters and villains appear to be represented in the footage, although their involvement has not been formally announced. Reports have identified characters including Pepper Potts and Obadiah Stane, alongside possible appearances by villains such as Madame Masque and Iron Monger. Other locations shown reportedly include Japan and a S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier.
Motive announced the Iron Man project with Marvel Games in 2022. It is being developed as a single-player, third-person action-adventure title with an original storyline rather than a direct adaptation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
Official information has remained scarce during the four years since the announcement, leading to speculation among some players about the project’s status.
The leaked footage and Motive’s response now provide clearer evidence that development remains active, although they offer no reliable indication of when the game will arrive.
