The July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum, which has been the subject of public discussion for a long time, opened its doors to visitors today, drawing hundreds of people who queued outside from the morning.

The museum chronicles the July Uprising through photographs, videos, documents, digital installations and personal belongings of those killed and injured during the movement.

"This is a historic place. I came here with great expectations from Gazipur. This was where many of the country's key decisions during the movement were made. It is a very emotional place," said one visitor.

Inaugurating the museum exactly two years after the uprising, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman yesterday unveiled its plaque, saying the memories preserved there would allow future generations to remember the sacrifices that reshaped the nation’s history.

The museum operates three daily visiting sessions for the main building: the morning session from 11:00am to 1:00pm, the midday session from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, and the evening session from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.

Tickets are priced at Tk 50 for adults and Tk 25 for children. Visitors must book tickets in advance for a specific date and time slot.
