The house help, Ayesha, the prime accused in the murders of a mother and daughter in Mohammadpur, remains at large as police struggle to locate her due to a lack of a digital footprint.

Police officials say the suspect's genuine name and address are unknown, making the investigation extremely challenging.

"She was not carrying a mobile phone at the time of the incident, and the CCTV cameras in the surrounding area were not functioning," said Assistant Commissioner (AC) Abdullah Al Mamun, adding, "which made it difficult to determine the direction she fled."

On Monday morning, Laila Afroz and her ninth-grade daughter, Nafisa Nawal Binte Aziz, were stabbed at their Mohammadpur flat in Dhaka, allegedly by their house help.

CCTV footage confirms the house help, who had started working there four days earlier, fled the apartment wearing Nafisa's school uniform.

AC Mamun said they are now analysing data on such incidents involving house help. "We are trying our best. Hopefully, we'll be able to arrest her soon."

Contacted, Mesbah Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mohammadpur Police Station, said the motive for the murders remains unclear. "We are trying to trace the prime accused but have nothing yet to share with you."
