Chinese technology firm Lenovo has announced a partnership with US chipmaker Nvidia to launch an 'AI Cloud Gigafactory' program aimed at accelerating data centre deployment for AI cloud providers.

At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the companies stated the collaboration will combine Lenovo's liquid-cooled AI infrastructure with Nvidia's computing platforms. They claim the program can reduce the time needed to deploy new AI data centres to a matter of weeks. Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing, appearing with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, said the partnership sets a "new benchmark for scalable AI factory design."

Lenovo also unveiled several AI-focused products. These include 'Qira', a personal AI system designed to work across Lenovo and Motorola devices, and concept AI glasses. The company is also developing an AI assistant wearable under 'Project Maxwell', which would offer real-time help to the wearer.

The announcements reflect Lenovo's strategic push to establish itself in the artificial intelligence sector. In a recent earnings call, the company stated AI is moving from a supporting role to a core engine of its growth as the technology expands into more applications.
