Australia clinched the three-match T20I series 2-0 following a seven-run win over Bangladesh in the second match in Chottagram on Friday.

Matt Renshaw scored 89 not out off 52 deliveries as Australia posted 196/5 in 20 overs before restricting the hosts to 189/6.

The third and final match of the series will take place on Sunday at the same venue.

Bangladesh started their chase pretty well, reaching 103 runs in 10 overs, thanks to a 15-ball 30 from Tanzid Hasan and a 33-ball 42 from Saif Hassan.

Parvez Hossain Emon's 22-ball 36 gave Bangladesh momentum but wickets at the other end saw pressure mounting. Despite some lusty blows late on from Tawhid Hridoy (35 off 22 deliveries), Bangladesh fell just short.

Aaron Hardie, despite going for 40 in four overs, was the most successful bowler for Australia with two wickets.

Matt Renshaw struck a career-best unbeaten 89 off 52 balls as Australia posted a formidable 196 for five in their 20 overs in the second T20I against Bangladesh at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram on Friday.

The left-hander smashed four fours and five sixes during his innings, while Tim David contributed a brisk 45 off 26 balls as Australia registered their highest-ever T20I total against Bangladesh, surpassing their previous best of 158 for three in Mirpur in 2014.

For Bangladesh, Nasum Ahmed, who came into the side in place of Mahedi Hasan, was the most successful bowler with figures of 2-27 from his four overs. The remaining bowlers, however, all conceded at more than 8.5 runs per over.

Bangladesh made an encouraging start after the visitors opted to bat first, reducing Australia to 44 for three inside the powerplay with a disciplined bowling display.

Renshaw then joined forces with David to turn the innings around, adding 97 runs from just 50 deliveries for the fourth wicket. Their counter-attacking partnership shifted the momentum decisively in Australia's favour before Abdul Gaffar Saqlain dismissed David.

Despite losing his partner, Renshaw continued to dominate the Bangladesh attack and remained unbeaten until the end. Joel Davies provided useful support with an unbeaten 13 off eight balls as the pair added 42 runs from 24 deliveries, helping Australia finish with a massive total.

Bangladesh to bowl first in second T20I against Australia

Australia captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and elected to bat first against Bangladesh in the second T20I at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium in Chattogram on Friday.

Australia made one change to their playing XI, bringing in Aaron Hardie in place of Xavier Bartlett. Bangladesh, meanwhile, made two changes, with Nahid Rana and Nasum Ahmed replacing Shoriful Islam and Mahedi Hasan.

Speaking at the toss, stand-in captain Tawhid Hridoy revealed that regular T20I skipper Litton Das still requires more time to recover from the injury that also ruled him out of the series opener.

Bangladesh trail the three-match series 1-0 after suffering a four-wicket defeat in the opening T20I at the same venue on Wednesday.
