A newly married man was killed in a road accident in Senbagh upazila of Noakhali on Thursday night.

The deceased, Md Al-Amin, 28, ran a pharmacy business at Chhatarpaiya Bazar with his father and brother.

Police said the accident occurred in the Kutirbari area along the Senbagh-Sonaimuri road around 9:30pm. Al-Amin’s motorcycle collided head-on with a battery-run auto-rickshaw carrying poultry. He was critically injured and taken to the Senbagh Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.

Family members said Al-Amin had married in an arranged ceremony on July 20, just three days before the fateful incident. The festive lights at his home had not yet dimmed; the newlywed bride was left in tears as the household plunged into silence, they mentioned.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge of Senbagh Police Station Abdur Rahim Sarkar said police visited the scene. “Preparations are underway to file a case at the request of the victim’s family,” he told The Daily Star on Friday morning.
