Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Hossain Fakir today said legal action will be taken over the incidents in which many people, including police members, were killed before and after August 5.

He made the remark while briefing journalists at the headquarters of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) around 5:00pm on Friday.

When asked about taking action over the killings of police personnel before August 5, the IGP said, “Why are you only mentioning the police? Many people, including police, have been killed. Action will be taken in these matters according to the law. I have nothing more to say beyond that.”

“After the July revolution, the morale of the police was zero. The police had become isolated from the public. This happened due to the wrong leadership of some individuals. From that position, the police have now turned things around,” he said.

The IGP also said that the youth should not take to the streets and enforce blockades over minor issues, as such actions harm the country overall. He urged everyone to behave responsibly.

Other senior police officials, including RMP Commissioner Zillur Rahman and Rajshahi Range DIG Mohammad Shahjahan were also present.
