The High Court on Thursday directed the Bangladesh Public Service Commission to publish the merit list for the 43rd Bangladesh Civil Service non-cadre recruitment within 60 days, finding irregularities in the selection process.
The court also asked the PSC to complete the recommendation process for non-cadre appointments in accordance with the law on the basis of the merit list.
PSC lawyer Munirujjaman told New Age that the verdict would not affect the appointments of the 642 non-cadre candidates who had already been recommended.
The bench of Justice Sashanka Shekhar Sarkar and Justice Urmee Rahman issued the order while disposing of a writ petition filed by 465 candidates, including Maruf Hossain, who participated in the viva voce examination of the 43rd BCS but were not appointed.
According to the petitioners, despite receiving requisitions for a total of 12,525 grade-9 to grade-12 non-cadre posts from different ministries, the PSC recommended only 642 candidates for non-cadre appointments without publishing a merit list, allegedly violating the Non-Cadre Recruitment (Special) Rules, 2010.
