Dhaka University authorities have announced restrictions on the entry of outsiders and controlled vehicular movement on campus during the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The decision was taken in the interest of overall safety and security of students and the university, according to a notice issued by the university today.

Entry of visitors and vehicular movement within the campus will remain restricted from June 24, 2026, for the duration of the World Cup. Access through the university’s entry points -- Shahbagh, Doel Chattar, DMCH Burn Unit, Shibbari Crossing, Fuller Road, Palashi Mor, and Nilkhet -- will be controlled during match days, said the notice.

Only vehicles bearing Dhaka University stickers and emergency service vehicles, including ambulances, doctors, patients, journalists, ride-sharing services, food delivery vehicles, online shopping delivery vehicles, and government vehicles, will be permitted controlled access. Public transport and heavy vehicles will continue to face restrictions at all times.

The university added that the decision may be reviewed periodically based on stakeholder feedback, suggestions, and the prevailing situation. The measures are intended to safeguard students and maintain order on campus during the global sporting event.
