State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain today said the government would ensure rehabilitation and medical treatment for all those affected by the July uprising, regardless of political affiliation.

“Many ‘July fighters’ were deprived during the previous government’s tenure due to their BNP affiliation,” he said while speaking to reporters at Secretariat after a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

Ishraque said some families did not properly receive rehabilitation support in the past because of their BNP political identity.

“We are reviewing those cases. No political identity will be considered. All who were injured or martyred and made sacrifices will be rehabilitated. Treatment will be ensured, and martyr families will receive the rehabilitation and respect they deserve,” he said.

He added that the prime minister inquired about the rehabilitation process.

“He sought updates on the treatment of those injured in the July uprising, their rehabilitation, educational support for their family members and various allowances,” the minister said.

Regarding the July Foundation, he said a significant amount of government funds had been allocated in the past.

“The prime minister wanted to know whether those funds were properly utilised. We have taken directives from him in this regard,” he added.
